Reggio Calabria, or also known as Calabria, is a region in Italy that blossoms through the summer - with many music and culture events that take place, as well as the international jazz festival in Rocella and a lot of open air theatres, concerts and folklore nights.

You may be first time hearing about the magical small villages of Gerace, Epizephiri, Siderno Antica, Gioiosa Ionica and Mammola - but they are definitely one of the most iconic places in Calabria and the Jasmine Riviera. This tour lets you explore the vibrant Jasmine Riviera but also the Tropea Area, Reggio Calabria, Scilla and Vibo Valente - all villages tucked along the Tyrrhenian Coast offering beautiful and picturesque architecture and vast history.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Lamezia Terme Arrival/Jasmine Riviera Your luxury tour of this particularly picturesque region of Italy will begin upon arrival at the Lamezia airport. After proceeding through passport control, be sure to collect your bags from the inside of the customs area. Once you’ve cleared customs, your private driver will meet you for a transfer to The Jasmine Riviera. You’ll enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure and an overnight stay on the Jasmine Riviera.

Day 02: Gerace, Epizephiri: The first full day of your tour will kick off with breakfast at your hotel followed by a private guided adventure through the medieval hill town of Gerace. A stop at the Church of St. Francis will be included so that you may take in the splendor of this Norman cathedral built in the 11th century A.D. Famed for its intricate marble inlaid alter, the church is considered one of the largest in southern Italy. While in this town, you’ll get to sightsee on your own and explore the town’s famous narrow medieval streets. In the afternoon, you depart for a trip to the Greek City of Locri Epizephiri to see these important archaeological ruins. After seeing the temple of Marasa and the Greek-Roman theater, you’ll return to overnight in the Jasmine Riviera.

Day 03: Day at Leisure or *Optional Tour: Siderno Antica, Gioiosa Ionica, Mammola: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before spending the morning on a private luxury guided tour of the ancient village of Siderno Antica. Here you’ll get to see how villagers live while taking in an embroidery-making exhibition. Lunch at your leisure before heading off to Goiosa Jonica to explore this traditional village’s open-air market. After that, you’ll be off to Mammola to take in the city’s historic center, its stunning flower displays and quaint narrow streets. An overnight stay in the Jasmine Riviera will cap off the evening.

Day 04: Jasmine Riviera Today’s tours will begin with breakfast at the hotel followed by an entire day spent in the Jasmine Riviera. The morning tours will take you to Stillo, a stunning hilltop town. The 9th century Cattolica is the centerpiece of this stop. This byzantine inspired church features a traditional square design that forms a Greek cross. With three apses and five small domes, this church and the natural light that floods it are beautiful to behold. You’ll enjoy lunch included before heading back to the hotel and another night on the Jasmine Riviera.

Day 05: Jasmine Riviera, Tropea Area Today’s tours will include a change of scenery, so be sure to fuel up with breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a private transfer to Tropea. Once you arrive, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore this stunning seaside resort at your leisure. Known as the Coast of the Gods, Costa degli Dei is found on the Tyrrhenian Sea. This slice of paradise is considered one of Italy’s best summer destinations. Tropea boasts a beautiful historic city center and is perched upon cliffs that overlook the sea. You’ll get to overnight here so you can truly take in the splendor.

Day 06: Tropea, Reggio Calabria, Scilla, Tropea Today’s tours are intended to be grand. You’ll start your day with breakfast at the hotel followed by a private tour of Reggio Calabria. In this destination, you’ll visit the National Museum, which is famed for the “Bronzes of Riace.” These two Greek bronze statues date back to the 5th century B.C. After seeing the sights, you’ll get to explore, shop and stroll on your own. Be sure your own tours of this town include a stop at the promenade that overlooks Sicily and the straits of Messina. After leaving Reggio Calabria, you’ll head to Scilla to see is famous Medieval castle and its Chianalea fishing district. The district boasts homes that are built right on the very water’s edge. At the end of the afternoon, you’ll return to your hotel in the Tropea area for an overnight stay.

Day 07: Day at Leisure or *Optional Tour: Tropea, Pizzo, Vibo Valente Today’s tours start out with breakfast at the hotel before a driving journey along the beautiful Tyrrhenian coastline. You’ll also enjoy a tour of the seaside town of Tropea, which dates to the Roman Empire, including guided tours of the cathedral and city center. The tour includes travel through beachside towns before arrival at Pizzo Calabro. It is here you will see the castle where Joacchino Murat, Napoleon’s brother-in-law, was executed on Oct. 18, 1815. Be sure to try the local gelato, called tartufo, before leaving this region. You’ll spend the night at a hotel in the Tropea area.

Day 08: Tropea, Lamezia Terme Airport As your days of nonstop adventure and tours come to an end, you’ll enjoy breakfast at your hotel. A private transfer to the Reggio Calabria airport is included for your luxury and comfort as you bid Italy arrivederci.

Both hotels were excellent and the rooms were fine. All the drivers were on time and got us to our destinations promptly. We were especially glad to have someone meet us at the train station with the tickets in hand and directions to our car in Milan.
