As you depart from Sorrento Pier and pass through Marina Grande fishing village, you will discover the hidden treasure of Regina Giovanna Bath, once a Roman Villa; a cleft in the rocks allows the sea to channel through an archway into a clear, natural pool, with the water turning iridescent blue, green, and violet as the sunlight changes angles. A pearl of the Amalfi Coast, Positano is a maze of alleys and steps with small shops displaying the typical products of local crafts, which, together with the undisputed beauty of the landscape, have contributed to making Positano famous world-wide. We refer to the fresh linen dresses in style "Positano fashion", the leather sandals and, the colorful ceramics. Reembark your Private Boat and continue your Cruise by passing through Praiano and Conca dei Marini, a village that has impeccably preserved the old charm of a fishing village, with white houses tucked into the rock, like precious stones in a sculpted setting. Day 05: Amalfi Coast Private Guided Tour |Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your driver and guide at the hotel lobby. This morning you will first visit the beautiful town of Amalfi. The Arab-Norman Sant'Andrea cathedral at the heart of town, with its striped Byzantine facade, survives from this era. The Museo Arsenale Amalfi is a medieval shipyard-turned-exhibition space. The town gives its name to the whole coast as well as one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world for its history, monuments and natural setting that allowed to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After some time at leisure, continue to the top of the mountains to Ravello, situated at 1100 feet above the sea level, the views of the coast below are for sure the most breath-taking scenery. Lunch in a Characteristic Local Restaurant, The town of Ravello is for sure the best place where to leave the crowds and where to enjoy the quiet of a village, where most of the historical centre is still untamed, and still recalling the magnificence of the grand private residences. Here you will visit Villa Rufolo. The villa was built in the 13th century for the wealthy Rufolo dynasty and was home to several Popes as well as King Robert of Anjou. Late afternoon return to your Hotel. Overnight in Amalfi.

The White Grotto: It gets its name from the white stalactites that hang from the roof of the cave and the white layers of calcareous material that coats its sides. One of the stalactites is said to resemble the Virgin Mary in prayer. The grotto consists of an upper and lower cave, although the upper is not easily accessible. The lower cave is about 24 feet at its tallest and is wider above the water (about six feet) than it is at the surface. The Green Grotto: The green light that reflects on the rocks inside of the cave, creating a beautiful visual effect for visitors to the cave. The cave has two openings, the smallest of which lets in the sunlight. It is also possible to swim through the grotto from one side to the other. L’arco Naturale and the Grotta Meravigliosa: The Natural Arch is a rock formation of Paleolithic age 12 meters wide and almost 20 meters high, which, due to the atmospheric agents and geological processes that have affected the island in the past, has acquired a curious arched shape. A walk around the center of Anacapri will take you past tiny Neapolitan tailor shops, artisan shoemakers, ladies sitting in the shade outside working on their knitting while exchanging gossip and news...all with the scent of the town's lemon groves that permeates the air. Here you will visit Villa San Michele and the Axel Munthe Gardens. Visit Mount Solaro, the ride to the summit takes only 13 minutes and each chair holds just a single rider. The journey to the top of Mount Solaro, while it may look intimidating is a very serene ride and you are never more than ten meters or so above the ground. The chair lift takes you over gardens, private homes, and eventually over the rugged terrain near the top of the peak. The views as you climb higher get more and more impressive until you find yourself at the top with a 360-degree view of the island and the Bay of Naples. If you happen to get a very clear day you will be able to see Mount Vesuvius, the Amalfi Coast and even the mountains in Calabria. After returning to the town of Capri for lunch in a characteristic local restaurant, spend the afternoon exploring this enchanting part of the island. The best way to discover the island is by walking and breathing the special atmosphere along the tiny pedestrian alleys. The most impressive historical monument in Ischia is the famous Castello Aragonese, which stands on a volcanic rock, like a small island. This rock reaches the height of 113 meters above the sea level and it has an area of approximately 56.000 square meters. The Aragonese castle was built by Geron of Syracuse and was transformed into a fortress during the Angevin domination when it was closed by massive walls. Later, Alfonso of Aragon built the bridge that still connects the small island to the main island. Inside the walls of the castle, you can admire the ruins of the cathedral, inside whose crypt there are frescoes of Giotto school and the Church of the Immaculate with the adjoining convent of the Poor Clares (XVIII century) in whose basement is the macabre cemetery of the nuns. After lunch in a characteristic local restaurant, you will explore the exquisite Mortella Botanical Gardens. Created in 1958 by Lady Susan Walton, La Mortella Botanic Gardens were developed over the course of 50 years. Considered one of the most beautiful private gardens in Europe, it was built on land that was once covered in volcanic rocks. Today, the botanic gardens are divided into a valley garden and a hill garden, each with a distinct character. The hill garden features Mediterranean vegetation and architectural elements that reflect the history and archaeology of Ischia. It is dominated by the Greek Theater, an auditorium that was carved out of the slope of the mountain with a stage overlooking the Bay of Forio. The valley garden is home to a wide variety of trees and flowers, including ginkgo biloba trees, magnolias, hydrangeas, tree ferns, geraniums, Brahea palms, yucca, aloe and water lilies. It also features 65-foot tall trees that produce yellow flowers like tulips.
