In the Iron Age, the area was inhabited by a pre-Etruscan civilization known as the Apennines. After this, other cultures began to move into Tuscany and surrounding areas. They thrived for a very long time in central Italy until the Roman patricians adopted the upper-class Etruscans into their civilization. Under Roman occupation, the city of Florence was established. Day 01: Florence Arrival | Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival at Florence airport please proceed through the Passport Control and collect your luggage inside the customs area. Just outside this area meet your driver who will transfer you to your Hotel in central Florence. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Florence.
Day 02: Florence Private Guided Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your Guide at the Hotel Lobby. Follow your guide along the windy pathways to a stop in Piazza del Duomo. Be awed as you take in the glory of the Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori). Marvel at the intricacy of the pink, white and green marble that covers the exterior, then gaze up at the striking cupola. You’ll also see Giotto's bell tower (Campanile di Giotto), and the bronze baptistery doors by Ghiberti. Next, stroll to the Accademia Gallery. Head directly inside with your skip-the-line ticket and make a beeline for the gallery’s most famous exhibit: Michelangelo’s David, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture. Admire the marble statue which was carved in the early 16th century, and learn how it is a symbol of strength and youthful, human beauty. Lunch at leisure. This afternoon *Optional Tour: head into Florence Old Town to see the Franciscan Church of Santa Croce. Pose for photos by its distinctive façade before strolling to Piazza della Signoria. See the imposing Palazzo and Ponte Vecchio and admire the replica of Michelangelo’s David. Then, wander through the Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air sculpture gallery. After, make for the Uffizi Gallery, which is home to more than 1,500 pieces of art including works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Raffaello and Caravaggio. Day 03: Pisa - Lucca | This morning after breakfast meet your Personal Guide at the Hotel lobby. Once in Pisa, you will be met by personal guide and the tour starts in the incredible Piazza dei Miracoli: here you can admire the baptistery and the famous Leaning Tower, together with a guided visit in the majestic Cathedral. Day 04: Florence - San Gimignano - Chianti | After Breakfast a the Hotel meet your driver at the Hotel Lobby. Today on route to your Siena Hotel visit San Gimignano, a splendid example of medieval town declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. San Gimignano, a charming Tuscan hill-top town, famous all over the world for the skyline of its medieval tower, rich in history, ancient traditions, delightful wine and food. Continue on to your Chianti Hotel.
Day 05: - Siena and Chianti | Breakfast at the Hotel. This morning, enjoy a private guided tour of Siena, probably Italy's loveliest medieval city. Siena's heart is Il Campo or Campo's square, where the famous horse race Il Palio, that takes place two times each summer. The town offer magnificent masterpieces and incredible views. Siena is the embodiment of a medieval city. After Lunch in a characteristic local farm, our English-speaking driver will take you through the scenic hills of Chianti. Only a few regions in Italy can offer such a beautiful and rich panorama as the Chianti wine region. This is the classic Tuscan countryside - Green hills with miles after miles of vineyards producing some of Italy’s best marketed wines, olive groves, gentle rolling hills, ancient walled villages and panoramic roads like you have never seen before. Chianti Classico spreads from Florence to Siena and includes the small municipalities of Castellina, Greve, Panzano, and Radda in Chianti. The splendid Romanesque churches, farmhouses, villas and castles dotting the landscape complement the region’s enchanting natural beauty. Late afternoon return to Chianti. Overnight in Siena.
Day 06: Day at Leisure or Optional Tour: Maremma | Breakfast at the Hotel. Today you will travel to the mythical Maremma Wine Region, your driver-guide takes you through the Orcia Valley into the wild Maremma region. For wine lovers, it is the home of some of the biggest wine names in the world such as Ornellaia ( Castagneto Carducci - Bolgheri ) and Sassicaia ( Super Tuscans wines ), here the wineries make some of the world's best (and most expensive) wines. You will stop on the way and enjoy superb wine tasting at the excellent cellar Petra ( in Suvereto). Light lunch at the wine cellar based on bruschette, pecorino cheese, home made pasta and wine. In the afternoon you will visit Ornellaia winery, one of the best cellar in Italy. Late afternoon return to your hotel Castle in the Chianti countryside.
Day 07: Montalcino and Montepulciano | Breakfast at the Hotel. Today, you will taste some of the most famous Italian wines: Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Your private driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you first to Montalcino. This ancient village is best known for its red Brunello di Montalcino wines, made with Sangiovese Grosso grapes. You will have a private visit to a Brunello producer such as the prestigious Poggio Antico Estate. On the way to the winery, you can stop for a quick visit of the stunning ruins of the 9th century Abbazia di Sant'Antimo. At the winery you will tour the cellars, the vineyards and take in the gorgeous views and taste Brunello "Riserva" and also Rosso di Montalcino. Lunch will be in the winery's restaurant. After the lunch, carry on to Montepulciano, a small village of Etruscan origin and one of the most beautiful hill towns in Tuscany. The Nobile wines of Montepulciano, were the first to be given the ultimate quality level of DOCG certification. You'll visit a top estate such as Valdipiatta or Avignonesi and enjoy a tasting of Vino Nobile wines. Late afternoon, enjoy free time on your own in Montepulciano and transfer back to your Hotel. Overnight in Chianti.
