Milan is known as a leading fashion capital of the world, a major economic hub and the most developed city in Italy. Still, it is more than that - it is a magical place where the biggest Duomo (cathedral) sits and a home of the famous La Scala Opera House. It is also a famous fine dining hotspot and a place of many vintage shops and Italian designers.
The surroundings of Milan include Lake Como and the Swiss Alps. This tour lets you see both destinations with an express rail tour from Milan, driving through the Alps to the Borromean Islands where you will be guided in a private tour and transferred to your hotel on Lake Maggiore.

Day 01: Milan Arrival |Welcome to Italy! On your arrival at Milan Airport, after you clear Immigration, you will pick up your luggage from the appropriate carousel and then procced to Customs. Just outside the Exit of the protected area meet your English-Speaking Assistant. Porterage arrangements have been made for 2 pieces of luggage per passenger. You will be transferred to your hotel in Milan. The balance of this first day is at leisure. For International arrivals, we suggest an early dinner and a good night sleep. Overnight in Milan.
Day 02: Milan Private Guided Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your driver and guide at the hotel lobby. This morning you will enjoy a Milan Private Guided Tour. Together with your Private Guide, visit Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper. You’ll learn about the Florentine genius as you explore the charming cloister of the adjacent church, Santa Maria delle Grazie. You’ll then embark on a journey through some of Milan’s lesser known streets steeped in history and lined with 15th and 16th century architecture. Continue to the Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco), ancient residence of the Milan Duchy (Ducato di Milano); the Merchants Square (Piazza Mercanti), the heart of the medieval city with the House of Common, the Broletto, dated back to the 13th century; the “Duomo”, the most important symbol of Milan; the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a wonderful glass vaulted arcade built is 19th century reach of fashion shops and cafés; Piazza della Scala, with the theatre and its museum rich of mementos from the opera house. Day 03: Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your driver at the hotel lobby to be transferred to your Group Tour meeting point. Today experience the Bernina Express, the iconic red Swiss mountain train, for an Alps tour with a difference. Travel from Milan to Switzerland in the morning and relax on your coach journey to Tirano. After some free time in the town, board the Bernina Express and gaze out of your window as the historic train passes through the idyllic stretches of Northern Italy and the Swiss Alps. Ride over the spiral viaduct of Brusio, and along the Bernina Pass to Engadin. After 2.5 hours on board, watch the scenery change from windswept gorges and snow-clad glaciers to the chic chalets of St Moritz. Hop off the train to enjoy roughly 1.5 hours of free time in the town. An elegant vacation spot that is popular for winter sports, St Moritz has a bounty of attractions to keep you busy. Stroll the lake, ogle the snow-specked mountains that ring the town, enjoy lunch or browse the local chocolatiers to sample Swiss chocolate. All food is at your own expense. In the early evening, return to Milan by coach. Your tour finishes with a drop-off at the start point. Here you will be met by your driver whom will transfer you back to your hotel. Day 04: Milan Stresa and Borromean Islands Private Guided Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. This morning meet your driver at the hotel lobby to be transferred to your hotel in Stresa on Lake Maggiore. After a short stop at the Hotel meet your Private Guide. Your tour starts in Stresa and then continues on to The Borromean Islands. Stresa is an exclusive place with its beautiful lakeside setting in front of Isola Bella. After a guided stroll in Stresa, you will enjoy a boat ride in the Borromeo Gulf for a visit to the beautiful Isola Bella (Beautiful Island). A tiny village, still preserving its original charm, will welcome us on the Island. However, it's a striking baroque building known as "The Borromeo Palace" that will soon capture your attention once you are on Isola Bella. You will be guided through its 17th-century rooms including the Grottoes before enjoying a pleasant stroll in the fabulous Italian gardens built on 10 terraces that make Isola Bella a unique and unbelievable place in the world! In the afternoon continue on to Isola Madre the atmosphere is more authentic, learning about how the Borromeo family created such a luxuriant English-style botanical garden; in the villa, you will admire a collection of marionettes. Day 05: Stresa → Lake Orta → Cheese & Wine Tasting → Stresa | After breakfast at the Hotel, meet your driver in the lobby. Today you will enjoy a Private Guided Tour of Lake Orta with a lovely afternoon Cheese and Wine Tasting in Arona on Lake Maggiore. Your tour will include an English-speaking professional guide at your disposal for the visit to the ancient village of Orta and a boat ride to discover the island of San Giulio. Your tour will start in the ancient village of Orta San Giulio which lies on charming Lake Orta, a true gem at a short distance from well-known Lake Maggiore. Accompanied by an expert guide you will discover the medieval lanes and the old palaces of Orta. The small village hides elegant buildings and traditional houses that date back to centuries ago and give the village of Orta its special appeal. Lunch at leisure. A large religious community lives on the isle of St. Julius and contributes to the old-time atmosphere of the island where you will also find elegant villas with nice private gardens. Day 07: Stresa → Lake Como | After breakfast at the Hotel, meet your driver in the lobby. Today you will leave Lake Maggiore to spend 3 nights on Lake Como. Overnight on Lake Como.
Day 08: Lake Como Private Boat Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your driver and Guide at your Hotel lobby. This morning transfer to Lake Como where you will enjoy a 5 Hours Lake Como Private Boat Tour with an English-speaking Captain. The tour includes a Private Guided visit at one of the most beautiful properties in the Italian Lake District, Villa Balbianello. The splendid Villa del Balbianello rises on a breathtaking sheer promontory above Lake Como. The loggia affords a beautiful view of the lake. Once in Lugano meet your Private Guide for a walking tour experiencing the city’s pedestrian center that exudes charm and conviviality. As you weave your way through Lugano’s historic arcades lined with specialty purveyors of fine gourmet goods, you’ll be captivated by the city’s Mediterranean-style squares and refined avenues.
