When we say Rome and Tuscany, you definitely think of fine wine, a lot of architecture and the very best of Italian tradition and history mixed up in one tour. And that is exactly how this tour begins - with a private guided visit of Rome and the nearby places of Montepulciano, Montalcino and Chianti.

The tour continues with a visit of the magnificent cathedrals and churches in the small UNESCO site of San Gimignano, as well as Siena and the Chianti area where you will enjoy one of the best food and wine tasting events during the tour.

From Chianti to Florence where you meet art in person, the tour will take you on a stroll through Italy's most iconic squares, treat you to the perfect gelato (ice cream) and obviously, let you see why Tuscany is known as the best wine region in Italy.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Rome Arrival | Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival at Rome airport please proceed through the Passport Control and collect your luggage inside the customs area. Private transfer to your hotel in Roma. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the Eternal City. Overnight in Rome.

Day 02: Private Guided Ancient Vatican Tour | In the morning meet your driver at the Hotel lobby to be transferred to the Vatican for a 4 hours Vatican Private Guided tour.

  • First Visit Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, Raphael Rooms. Here we will spend plenty of time to absorb the atmosphere of this unique building. You will learn about the life and times of Michelangelo at the Vatican, his relationship with Pope Julius II and relive how he worked and lived.
  • You will then move onto visit Saint Peter’s Basilica – the world’s most famous and largest Catholic Church. The final part of the tour will focus on Saint Peter’s Square; here you will have time to admire Michelangelo's Dome and Bernini’s colonnades. Late afternoon return you to the hotel. *Afternoon Optional Tours available. Overnight in Rome.

Day 03: Private Guided Ancient Rome Tour | After breakfast meet your driver and guide at the hotel lobby.
Morning Private tour of the wonders of the Ancient Romans. You will be transported back to the days of the Caesars and the Roman legions as you visit, together with your private local guide. This tour begins with a visit to the most famous monument of Ancient Rome - the Colosseum. From here, your guide will take you through the Roman Forum, which was the center of politics as well as public life in Ancient Rome. Lunch and afternoon at leisure. *Afternoon Optional Tours available. Overnight in Rome.

Day 04: Rome - Montepulciano - Montalcino - Chianti | In the morning, meeting with the driver and departure to Chianti. The drive itself is a magnificent path along the roads of Tuscany, where it is possible to enjoy the view of hills covered by vineyards, olives tree, small villages and original bell towers. En route stop in Montepulciano and Montalcino: visit of the small medieval villages, famous for its wine and the beautiful landscape. Lunch and wine tasting at Azienda Tornesi. Arrival in Chianti late afternoon. Overnight in Chianti.

Day 05: San Gimignano - Siena - Chianti | After breakfast at the hotel, meet the driver in the lobby for a Private Tour of the Tuscany countryside. First San Gimignano, a splendid example of medieval town declared a World Heritage Site. The town will leave you astonished by its beauty. Leave San Gimignano to visit the Chianti area where you will enjoy a Food a Wine Tasting at local Winery. Then continue on to Siena for a private guided tour of Italy's loveliest medieval city. Siena's heart is its central piazza known as Il Campo, known worldwide for the famous Palio run here, a horse race run around the piazza two times every summer. Late afternoon return to your hotel in Chianti.

Day 06: Day at Leisure or Optional Tour: Maremma | Breakfast at the Hotel. Today you will travel to the mythical Maremma Wine Region, your driver-guide takes you through the Orcia Valley into the wild Maremma region. For wine lovers, it is the home of some of the biggest wine names in the world such as Ornellaia ( Castagneto Carducci - Bolgheri ) and Sassicaia ( Super Tuscans wines ), here the wineries make some of the world's best (and most expensive) wines. You will stop on the way and enjoy superb wine tasting at the excellent cellar Petra ( in Suvereto). Light lunch at the wine cellar based on bruschette, pecorino cheese, home made pasta and wine. In the afternoon you will visit Ornellaia winery, one of the best cellar in Italy. Late afternoon return to your hotel Castle in the Chianti countryside.

Day 07: Chianti - Florence | Breakfast at the Hotel. In the morning, transfer to your hotel in Florence by private car. Lunch and afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Florence.

Day 08: Florence Private Guided Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. Your private guide will meet you at your hotel for your private walking tour of the city. Florence's rich past as the cultural centre of the Italian Renaissance can still be seen today in the wealth of art gathered here and in the preservation of its splendid architecture. The tour includes visits of the Duomo and the Baptistery, the Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, and the famous Accademia Gallery (entrance fee included). Lunch and afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Florence.

Day 09: Pisa - Lucca | Breakfast at the Hotel. Lucca and Pisa are undoubtedly among the richest cities in the world for their architecture and history: they are mandatory destinations for those who want to go deep inside Tuscany and its artistic background. Once in Pisa, you will be met by personal guide and the tour starts in the incredible Piazza dei Miracoli: here you can admire the baptistery and the famous Leaning Tower, together with a guided visit in the majestic Cathedral. After you will have some free time to do shopping or have a cappuccino before the departure for Lucca. In Lucca, famous for its still intact walls with huge gates and ramparts, your Tour Guide will lead you to the enchanting old town centre walking along a section of the walls and enjoying a breathtaking view over the rooftops. Then you are free to admire the main attractions of the city we recommend Anfiteatro Square, Guinigi Tower, San Martino Cathedral and stroll along the picturesque streets of antique shops. Late afternoon return to Florence. Overnight in Florence.

Day 10: Florence Departures | After breakfast at the hotel enjoy a Private Transfer to Florence Airport.

Both hotels were excellent and the rooms were fine. All the drivers were on time and got us to our destinations promptly. We were especially glad to have someone meet us at the train station with the tickets in hand and directions to our car in Milan. The best part of the trip was the all day private boat trip in Bellagio with the great restaurant on the private island. So thanks for your help and hopefully we can do it again.
