You may have seen it on postcards, watched it on documentaries or read about it in local newspapers. Cinque Terre is probably one of the most magical places in Italy that perfectly sums up the Italian architecture mixed up with the long tradition, the amazing wines and the fresh sea breeze that puts a special accent to the entire story.
In this tour, you will be able to see, taste and explore every bit of Cinque Terre, but also go beyond the place and visit Portofino, Rapallo, Tigullio and Santa Margherita Ligure, all picturesque and iconic coastal places in Liguria.
The tour continues with a visit to some of the oldest castles in Italy such as the Linigiana castles and Borgos, La Specia and the Gulf of Poets in a private guided tour.

Day 04: Cinque Terre Private Guided Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your Driver at the Hotel Lobby. This morning you will transfer to Monterosso al Mare to meet your Guide for a Private Tour of the The Cinque Terre, one of Italy’s most captivating landscapes. Translated as ‘five lands,’ the region is made up of five unique fishing villages that line the Italian Riviera. A combination of easy walks, village visits, train rides and a short boat trip between the atmospheric villages makes this the ideal visit to the Cinque Terre. Your private Guide will share great stories about each charming village, as The Cinque Terre, which until recently were linked only by mule tracks and accessible only by rail or water. An ancient system of footpaths is still the best way to visit the five villages: Monterosso: for many adventurers, the departure point, for the spectacular 12 km hiking trail that runs down the Cinque Terre coast. Vernazza: The village is dominated by the remains of the “castrum” a series of Medieval forts dating back to the XI century, with a cylindrical castle and tower. Corniglia: the only village of the Cinque Terre not in contact with the sea, rising on top of a rock promontory. Its low and wide houses are more like those of the hinterland than to the typical coastal houses, evidence that the traditional vocation of the village has always been more inclined towards the land than the sea. Manarola: hamlet of Riomaggiore, is a town planning jewel, rich as it is in typical tower houses of Genovese style, founded during the XII century. Riomaggiore peeling pastel buildings march down a steep ravine to a tiny harbour – the region's favorite postcard view. In the afternoon you will reach Porto Venere, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its picturesque harbor is lined with brightly colored houses while narrow medieval streets lined with shops lead up the hill from the ancient city gate to the castle. The tip of the promontory holds a picturesque church. Byron's Cave is a rocky area leading to the sea where the poet Byron used to swim. Ferries cruise along the coast each day, offering passengers a chance to have a view of one of the most evocative landscapes of the Mediterranean. In the late afternoon transfer back to your Hotel. Santa Margherita Ligure.
Day 05: Santa Margherita Ligure → Tigullio Gulf → Lunigiana | After breakfast at the Hotel, meet your driver in the lobby for a Private Transfer to Cinque Terre. On route tour The Tigullio Gulf. Visit Chiavari, Sestri Levante and Levanto. Overnight in Lunigiana.
Day 06: Lunigiana (Fosdinovo & Licciana Nardi) Private Guided Tour |Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your Driver and Private Guide at the Hotel Lobby for a Lunigiana Private Guided Tour. In the morning, you visit one of the most fascinating of all the castles in Lunigiana, Fosdinovo castle. It is strategically placed halfway between the peaks of the Apuani Alps and the coast. Today, the descendants of the ancient feudal Malaspina family still live in the castle. The Malaspinas built the castle in the Middle Ages and their fortunes are interwoven with its history. Inside, the frescoed walls and furnished halls reflect what life was like during those times. The tumultuous life of the Malaspina family is full by legends, and, as befitting every self-respecting castle, these legends are full of ghosts, trapdoors and torture chambers. After Lunch/Food and Wine Tour in a local characteristic local Wine Estate, travel to Licciana Nardi. The town dates to the 13th century, when its role was to guard the route to the Passo del Lagastrello. The castle, which now looks more like a mansion, towers over the main square. Look for the bridge that was used by its inhabitants to reach the church without having to encounter the locals. The castle is now a private residence, and not open to the public. However, the owners are personal friends of mine, therefor arrangements may be made to visit the Castle. Some of the ancient fortified walls of the town can still be seen. Today, the main street of Licciana Nardi is filled with small shops, all with colourful painted signs. Look out for the Brunilde, (same owner of the Castle: Architect Brunella Viani) which is part of the initiative, i Laboratori del Parco that supports the production by local artisans of handicrafts using local materials, such as wool and leather. Continue by visiting Tavernelle, a small village in the hills of Licciana Nardi, at 450 metres above sea level. It has a medieval centre with a restaurant, bar, and campsite. In the late afternoon transfer back to your Hotel. Overnight in Lunigiana.
Day 07: Fivizzano, Verrucola and Gragnola Private Guided Tour | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet you driver and guide at your hotel lobby. In the morning you will visit the old town centre of Fivizzano. You have the choice of visiting a number of different places. There is the very interesting Printing Museum, as well as the church of San Jacopo and Antonio, the little Oratory of S. Carlo, where the eighteenth-century poet Giovanni Fantoni, also known as Labindo, is buried, as well as the Augustinian Monastery, which today houses the municipal library and the small Museum of San Giovanni. After a walk along the Medicean walls, you leave the old town centre to visit the small village of Verrucola, which is dominated by the stately Verrucola Castle, which can be visited by appointment only. In the afternoon, after lunch in a characteristic local restaurant continue your private tour by visiting one of the most charming Romanesque churches in Lunigiana - the church of the Saints Cornelio and Cipriano of Codiponte. In this building we discover a set of columns with carved figures dating back to medieval times. Your tour finishes with a visit to L’ Aquila Castle, which overlooks the medieval village of Gragnola. Originally the fiefdom of the Malaspina Marquis of Fosdinovo, today it has been completely restored. From the castle it is possible to enjoy breathtaking views of Pizzo d'Uccello (1781m), which soars into the sky behind the castle. In the late afternoon transfer back to your Hotel. Overnight in Lunigiana.
