Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Reggio Calabria, Jasmine Riviera Arrival Your grand adventure that will include private tours around this most beautiful region will begin at the Reggio Calabria airport. Upon disembarking your plane, be sure to proceed through the passport control area and collect your baggage from customs. Once you’re all clear for entry, your private driver will meet you to provide your transfer to the Jasmine Riviera. After checking in at your hotel, you’ll enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 02: Gerace, Epizephiri Before your day’s tours begin, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel. After this, you’ll set out on a luxury private guided tour of the medieval hill town of Grace. Once here, you’ll get to take in one of the largest Norman cathedrals still left standing in southern Italy today. Dated to the 11th Century A.D., the church of St. Francis is noted for its intricate alter that has inlaid marble. You’ll also have plenty of time for sightseeing on your own here as you find yourself walking down narrow medieval streets and taking in other sights. In the afternoon, your tour will continue to the ancient ruins of the Greek City of Locri Epizephiri before you overnight again on the beautiful Jasmine Riviera.

Day 03: Siderno Antica, Gioiosa Ionica, Mammola Today’s tours include multiple stops so be sure to energize with a good breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, you’ll embark on a private tour of Siderno Antica, which is an ancient village that retains its historic charms. Here you’ll get to experience how villagers live while watching an embroidery-making demonstration. You’ll enjoy lunch at your leisure before taking off for Gioiosa Jonica. This village boasts an open-air market with a bounty of open produce and other quaint attractions. Your next stop is Mammola, an old city famed for its historic center, vibrant floral displays, and narrow, medieval streets. After taking in the splendor that surrounds, you’ll return for an overnight stay on the Jasmine Riviera.

Day 04: Jasmine Riviera Start with breakfast at your hotel before today’s tours take you into the Jasmine Riviera to explore more of its famous sights. Your first stop will be the hilltop town of Stillo where you can visit the 9th century Cattolica. This small temple is a beautiful example of Byzantine style, complete with a square design that forms a Greek cross. The church boasts three apses and five small domes, adding to its splendor. Natural light also floods inside the building in a unique way, making it quite breathtaking. Frescoes that were only discovered in 1927 are also found within the church. Lunch is included before a return to the hotel for an afternoon of leisure and another overnight stay.

Day 05: Jasmine Riviera, Tropea Area Today begins with breakfast at your hotel before checking out and taking a private transfer to Tropea. Once you’re settled in, you’ll have the rest of the day at your leisure to explore this seaside resort and its stunning scenery. This part of the coastline is on the Tyrrhenian Sea and is called Costa Degli Dei, or Coast of the Gods. Given its beauty, it is considered one of Italy’s most impressive summertime destinations. Be sure to explore the historic center of Tropea during your stay and take a peek at the cliffs upon which it is perched high above the sea. You’ll overnight in Tropea, so you have plenty of time to take in its sights.

Day 06: Tropea, Reggio Calabria, Scilla, Tropea Start off this day’s tours with breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a private tour of Reggio Calabria. This city’s National Museum is home to the “Bronzes of Riace,” which are two Greek statues that date back to the 5th century B.C. After your luxury tour, you’ll have time to shop and stroll on your own and take in the promenade that overlooks the Straights of Messina and Sicily. Known as “the most beautiful kilometer of the Italian peninsula,” this stretch is a favorite for picture taking. The day’s tour will continue to Scilla where its medieval castle creates a dominating scene on the Strait of Messina. The quaint fishing district of Chianalea is also a must see with its houses built right on the edge of the water. Late afternoon will take you back to your hotel in the Tropea area where you can explore on your own once more.

Day 07: Tropea, Pizzo, Vibo Valente Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before the day’s tours kick off with a guided tour of the Tropea city center and its cathedral. This town has roots back to the Roman Empire and developed more under Norman influences. After lunch, the tour will continue through beachside towns along the beautiful Tyrrhenian Coast before a stop in Pizzo Calabro. This town is famed for its castle where Napoleon’s brother-in-law Joacchino Mura was executed on Oct. 18, 1815. Be sure to sample the local gelato during your time here. It’s called, “Tartufo.” You’ll overnight at your hotel in Tropea or the surrounding area.

Day 08: Tropea, Reggio Calabria Airport Breakfast at your hotel before saying goodbye to the beauty that surrounds Tropea and the Jasmine Riviera. A private transport to the Reggio Calabria Airport is provided to cap off your luxury tour.
