Tour Description

This tour combines four different destinations known as the pillars of the Italian history but also developed regions with a modern culinary and arts scene. It all begins in Turin, the museums and palaces in it and continues in the small villages of Asti and Monferrato where you will once again be a victim of the charm of the old squares, baroque buildings and narrow streets.

Monferrato and Alba are the destinations next on the list, where Monferrato is known as the land of rolling hills covered with vineyards and the region with a special wine accented by nature. Alba complements the castle-like ambience as well, but also lets you comfortably shop for souvenirs before heading to the truffle hunting experience at Langhe.

(Only during Truffle Fair in October) In the afternoon you will visit the world-renowned International Truffle Fair, which combines top chefs from across the globe with passionate food enthusiasts. The Truffle Market is the place to come to find out everything there is to know about the truffle, immersing you in a unique and headily scented atmosphere. Every truffle on sale at the market has been checked by a special commission before the market opens to the public, and this group of experts will also be available for consultation at the Consumer Help Desk inside the pavilions. The Truffle Market offers visitors the chance to see, touch and smell many, many truffles, sold directly by trustworthy local truffle hunters. Late afternoon transfer to your Hotel in Langhe.

The Castle overshadows one of the most beautiful and historically intact villages of the Langhe, surrounded by the hills of Barolo vineyards. Considered to be one of the best-conserved examples of 14th century noble castles in Piedmont, this castle represents a unique piece of history in Italy with an architectural structure of a French donjon. Lunch in a characteristic local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will learn all about one of this region's most famous specialties, the truffle. "What Is a Truffle? How Is a Truffle Found? What Techniques Does a Truffle Expert Use?" After this short introduction, you will venture into the woods with the trifolau (truffle hunter) and his dog, to put your newfound knowledge to the test and find your own little nugget of white gold! Next you will visit a local farm and taste some of their products, which include delectable cheeses and succulent salamis, paired with good local wine. Late afternoon transfer to your Hotel in Langhe.

Day 07: Langhe | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your Driver and Professional local Guide in the lobby. Your day in the Langhe starts with a wonderful visit to The Castle of Grinzane Cavour. The Castle became a symbol of the Langa del Barolo after Count Benso, the mayor of the town for some 17 years running, transformed it into a production base for the great wines of Langa. Today, Grinzane Cavour is home to an important wine museum and an ethnographic museum which illustrates the local farming traditions. Then continue to Barolo village with its imposing Castle. The Barolo Castle has a centuries-long history and an international museum dedicated to the world of wine. There is perhaps no better place to have a Wine Museum - than in the land where Barolo is made. Lunch in a local characteristic restaurant. In the afternoon visit The Marchesi di Barolo wine cellar, with wine tasting. Marchesi di Barolo was and is a winery that has received numerous awards for its wines and has been frequently recognized in the press and media. • Thank you for coordinating such a wonderful trip in Italy. Terence and I learned many things about Italy. The weather was great and we had so much fun. All hotels, staff and guides were superb! We especially appreciated our driver who served us from Venice through our time in Florence, I believe his name was Lorenzo. Again, thank “you” for doing such a great job in planning our vacation.

  • Hope, you are doing well. My wife and I had a great trip to Italy. The place, the people, and the food and wine were out of this world. Warm and kind people including hotel staff, tour guides and drivers went beyond their ways to help us and make this visit very special for us. It was very hard to leave Italy. You, your staff and company did an extraordinary job. You over delivered. Bravo!

  • We have just returned from our trip to Italy since we took a cruise after the program you and I put together. I just wanted to let you know that everything you planned worked out perfectly. Both hotels were excellent and the rooms were fine. All the drivers were on time and got us to our destinations promptly. We were especially glad to have someone meet us at the train station with the tickets in hand and directions to our car in Milan. The best part of the trip was the all day private boat trip in Bellagio with the great restaurant on the private island. So thanks for your help and hopefully we can do it again.
