Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Alghero | On your arrival at Alghero airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel, located on the seafront with a magnificent view of a crystal clear sea. Time has been set aside to learn all about your week of mountain biking and fit the bikes. After that you will enjoy a drink by the luxury pool before a great dinner. Overnight in Alghero.

Day 02: Punta Giglio and Porto Conte | After an energizing breakfast on a romantic veranda in front of the pool, we’ll have the opportunity to warm up the legs in the bike path leaving the hotel. We leave the track in the area of Lazaretto, admiring the wonderful view of a beautiful bay. There begins the climb to Punta Giglio, where we will breath the atmosphere of the Second World War visiting the old military establishments that protected the coast. The view from the top is spectacular, overlooking Alghero and good part of the gulf. From here we’ll move to Porto Conte, that is considered the most classic one among the natural ports of Mediterranean Sea, used since the Roman period. After a coffee break we return to the hotel where we can relax and swim in the bay in front of the hotel. Overnight in Alghero.

Day 03: Mt Doglia Loop | Breakfast at the Hotel. Another morning where you head off into the pine forest of Fertilia where the guide will provide more advice on riding skills, satisfying all different levels, in a safe and fun setting. After another lovely picnic arranged by the guides, the afternoon is dedicated to explore further afield, this time heading inland, riding “fertile” fields, towards Mt Doglia, a small limestone hill that overlooks Porto Conte bay. The climb is gradual, but once you’ve reached the top, you can enjoy some stunning views of the coast. With more open forest trails to choose from, the gradual descent will allow you to put into practice your riding skills, enjoying the views, the sun and simply being on your bike! Overnight in Alghero.

Day 04: The Old Town of Alghero | Breakfast at the Hotel. A more relaxing day today, where you will ride into Alghero, following the coast line to visit the town with its interesting historical center, and the beautiful promenade along the bastions facing the sea (around 20 km). Lunch and afternoon will be free. If someone would like to bike in the afternoon, we can head off down the coast and ride up to Punta Giglio’s cape, from where we have stunning views of limestone cliffs and open sea. (around 25 km). Once more dinner will be taken at the hotel. Overnight in Alghero.

Day 05: Alghero to Porticciolo | Breakfast at the Hotel. Meet your driver at the lobby for a private transfer. You will travel through the beautiful country side of vineyards and olive groves, set below Mt Doglia, taking country lanes and dirt tracks. Once along the coast, the route is simple and rich of amazing spots. From here, a pine forest trail will take us to Lake Baratz. This is the only natural lake existing on the island and an oasis for wildfowl. Lunch at a characteristic restaurant. A fun rolling single-track around the lake will keep us amused for the afternoon, before continuing to your Hotel in Porticciolo.

Day 06: Porticciolo to Monte Timidone | Breakfast at the Hotel. Your last day on the bikes in Sardinia and a great way to finish off where you can put together your new developed skills and simply enjoy the riding! The approach will take place in the lowlands and give you a good opportunity for a warm-up until the gates of the regional park of Mt Timidone (361mt) open. You start on a gradual climb on a well surfaced forest road with some narrow and steep passages, which will take you in no time to some fantastic view points over the beautiful Lake Baratz. Time to head back down to the coast on a fast and “technical” descent with a lot of fun, headed to Capo Caccia with its huge limestone cliffs. From there the Gulf of Alghero is a stunning panorama. You will descent through an easy dirt road to Dragunara cove, where you will take a boat to visit Neptune Caves, beautiful and famous for the ‘monk seal’, unfortunately now extinct. The return ride is easy and relaxing, the best way to close your adventure! Overnight in Porticciolo.

Day 07: Porticciolo at Leisure | Today spend the day at leisure. Overnight in Porticciolo.

  • Thank you for coordinating such a wonderful trip in Italy. Terence and I learned many things about Italy. The weather was great and we had so much fun. All hotels, staff and guides were superb! We especially appreciated our driver who served us from Venice through our time in Florence, I believe his name was Lorenzo. Again, thank “you” for doing such a great job in planning our vacation.

  • Hope, you are doing well. My wife and I had a great trip to Italy. The place, the people, and the food and wine were out of this world. Warm and kind people including hotel staff, tour guides and drivers went beyond their ways to help us and make this visit very special for us. It was very hard to leave Italy. You, your staff and company did an extraordinary job. You over delivered. Bravo!

  • We have just returned from our trip to Italy since we took a cruise after the program you and I put together. I just wanted to let you know that everything you planned worked out perfectly. Both hotels were excellent and the rooms were fine. All the drivers were on time and got us to our destinations promptly. We were especially glad to have someone meet us at the train station with the tickets in hand and directions to our car in Milan. The best part of the trip was the all day private boat trip in Bellagio with the great restaurant on the private island. So thanks for your help and hopefully we can do it again.
