Day 01: Lamezia Terme, Jasmine Riviera Arrival | Your fantastic journey begins the moment you arrive at the Lamezia Terme airport in preparation for your week of luxury private tours of the region. Though your journey is just beginning, you must first make your way through the passport control area to customs, where you can collect your baggage in preparation for what is before you. This necessary process can take up to an hour, but upon clearance, you will be met by your private driver who will escort you quickly to your hotel in the Jasmine Riviera, where you can relax and spend time at your leisure. Day 02: Gerace, Epizephiri | Your first busy day of touring will begin with a luxurious breakfast at your hotel, so that you are properly energized for what is to come. Your luxury private guided tour will first take you to Gerace, a medieval town that features the impressive Church of St. Francis, a Norman cathedral that dates back to the 11th Century A. D., where inside, you will see the amazing marble alter. The narrow streets surrounding the cathedral will allow you to explore the wonders that this town has to offer. Day 03: Day at Leisure or *Optional Tour: Siderno Antica, Gioiosa Ionica, Mammola | You may choose to spend your third day relaxing and exploring the region around the hotel, or for those eager to see more of this stunning area, you can embark on the optional private tour of Siderno Antica. This ancient village boasts many attractions and you can experience the historic ways for yourself. After an embroidery-making demonstration, you can enjoy lunch at one of the many cafés that can be found throughout the village before arriving at Gioiosa Ionica. Here, you will find a vast open-air market featuring the fresh produce that the region is known for. Next, you will be taken to Mammola which is full of many narrow medieval streets that you can explore. After spending the afternoon taking in the vibrant sights, you will return to your hotel at the Jasmine Riviera. Overnight in Siderno.
Day 04: Jasmine Riviera | After a hearty breakfast, today’s tour will take you to see the famous sights of the Jasmine Riviera. First, you will be taken to Stillo, a stunning hilltop town that features the 9th Century Byzantine era Cattolica temple. Designed so that the temple forms a Greek Cross, this eye-catching temple features apses and domes that make for a truly memorable experience. Visitors are drawn to the temple for the breathtaking light that floods in, and you will also have an opportunity to view the stunning frescos that were only discovered in 1927. A delicious lunch is provided, after which you will be returned to your hotel to spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Siderno.
Day 05: Jasmine Riviera, Tropea | Today you will leave your hotel at the Jasmine Riviera, but before this, be sure to enjoy breakfast. A private transfer will take you to Tropea where you will check in before enjoying the rest of the day exploring the sights of the seaside resort. Considered one of Italy’s most impressive stretches of coastline, the Costa Degli Dei, or Coast of the Gods, allows for breathtaking sights of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The historic town of Tropea is perched upon cliffs high above the crashing water below and makes for spectacular memories. After a day of exploring, you will spend the night at your hotel in Tropea. Day 06: Tropea, Reggio Calabria, Scilla, Tropea | Make sure you have breakfast at the hotel, because your day will be filled with many activities. A private tour of Reggio Calabria will allow you to see the “Bronzes of Riace” at the National Museum. These Greek statues are dated to the 5th Century B.C. and are a wondrous step back in ancient history. You can then spend time strolling the promenade, a famous destination that allows for amazing views across the Straights of Messina and Sicily. You will continue to Scilla, a town featuring an imposing medieval castle that sits overlooking the Straight of Messina. You will also be able to take in the scenery at Chianalea, a fishing village where homes are built right on the water. After this, you will return to your hotel for exploration and relaxation at your leisure. Overnight in Tropea.
Day 07: Day at Leisure or *Optional Tour: Tropea, Pizzo, Vibo Valente | Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before the day’s tours kick off with a guided tour of the Tropea city center and its cathedral. This town has roots back to the Roman Empire and developed more under Norman influences. After lunch, the tour will continue through beachside towns along the beautiful Tyrrhenian Coast before a stop in Pizzo Calabro. This town is famed for its castle where Napoleon’s brother-in-law Joacchino Mura was executed on Oct. 18, 1815. Be sure to sample the local gelato during your time here. It’s called, “Tartufo.” You’ll overnight at your hotel in Tropea or the surrounding area. Overnight in Tropea.
Day 08: Tropea, Lamezia Terme Airport | Breakfast at your hotel before saying goodbye to the beauty that surrounds Tropea and the Jasmine Riviera. A private tranfer to the Lamezia Terme Airport is provided to cap off your luxury tour.
